What is kaizo block?

Kaizo blocks are a type of obstacle commonly found in difficult or expert-level Super Mario hacks and custom levels. These are usually hidden blocks, designed to surprise and frustrate players by trapping them or causing them to fall to their death.

Kaizo blocks can often be placed in seemingly harmless places, such as above a coin or power-up, or disguised as other blocks. They require precise timing, reflexes, and memorization to overcome, and their placement in levels is often meant to test the limits of a player's skill.

The term "kaizo" refers to a style of Super Mario gameplay that is characterized by its focus on extreme difficulty and precise movement and control. These types of levels were popularized by the Japanese hacker T. Takemoto and gained popularity in the early 2010s with the rise of online streaming and community-driven level creation.

While some players find kaizo levels to be a fun and exciting challenge, others criticize them for being unfairly difficult or relying on cheap tricks to create challenge. Regardless, kaizo blocks remain an iconic feature of this style of gaming and continue to challenge players today.
